Extinction vortex occurs when demographic, environmental, and genetic stochasticity interact with each other and with deterministic factors, such as habitat quality, to reinforce the demise of a small population. The small population becomes completely unable to recover especially due to lack of genetic variability.

The numbers of-of the prairie chicken population could not be reversed through the management of habitat alone but by a transfusion of genetic variation in the population. This was done to help the species achieve minimal viable population size at which a species is able to sustain its numbers.

Gametes (SEX CELLS) have ... A. half the number of chromosomes found in the body cells B. twice the number of chromosomes found
Julli [10]

Answer:

\boxed {\boxed {\sf A. \ Half \ the \ number \ of \ chromosomes \ found \ in \ the \ body \ cells}}

Explanation:

Gametes are sex cells, such as the egg and sperm. They are used in sexual reproduction to produce offspring.

The sex cells are produced during meiosis. The DNA or genetic material is replicated, then the cells divide twice. After this, four haploid cells are produced with half of the genetic material. For example, human body cells have 46 chromosomes but sex cells have 23 chromosomes.

They contain half the genetic material for an important reason. During fertilization, an egg and a sperm fuse. Each one contributes half of the genetic material from the mother or father to create one complete set for the offspring.

Gametes have half the number of chromosomes in body cells and choice A is correct.

1. List and explain the difference between the minimum voltage and maximum voltage achieve in a nerve impulse.
EleoNora [17]
The minimum voltage is observed as the resting potential of the cell membrane. This has a value of -70 millivolts and exists when there is no stimulus present. After a stimulus is applied, the sodium-potassium channels allow the movement of ions in and out of the cell membrane. Before the channel is able to close again and restore itself to the resting potential, hyperpolarization occurs and a maximum voltage of about 30-40 millivolts is achieved.
