El Nino is a meteorological phenomenon that consists of a warm phase of the El Nino-Southern Oscillation. It is basically a band of warm ocean water that occurs in four years phases, some can last from two to seven years. It changes patterns of rainfall and drought.

According to National Aeronautics and Space Administration - NASA, the Antarctic ice has been melting even faster because of the El Nino phenomenon especially because of the influence of the phenomenon over atmospheric pressure fields. El Nino causes the water temperatures to heat up, the warm air rises and moves towards to the South Pole.
