Answer:

1 and 5; 2 and 6; 3 and 4.

1. intestinal phase -->5. stomach empties and decreases secretions

2. gastric phase---> 6. stomach secretes juice and mixes food into chyme.

3. cephalic phase--->4. prepares stomach for arrival of food

Explanation:

  1. The first phase is the cephalic phase, this starts before food is ingested, and it prepares the stomach for the food that is to come. The gastric secretion starts due to visual and olfactory stimulates.
  2. The second phase is the gastric phase, the food is already in the stomach, the gastric secretion increases and the contractions of the stomach mix the food with the secretions to form the chyme.
  3. The intestinal phase is the third phase, the chyme starts to pass to the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine, and the gastric secretions decreases.

Potassium has a half-life of 12 hours. What fraction of a 100g sample is left after 48 hours
EastWind [94]

Answer:

After 48 hours amount left = 6.25 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Half life of potassium = 12 hours

Total mass = 100 g

Mass left after 48 hours = ?

Solution:

Number of half lives passed:

Number of half lives = Time elapsed / half life

Number of half lives = 48 hours/ 12 hours

Number of half lives = 4

At time zero = 100 g

At first half life = 100 g/ 2 = 50 g

At 2nd half life = 50 g/2 = 25 g

At 3rd half life = 25 g/2 = 12.5g

At 4th half life = 12.5 g/2 = 6.25 g

Can you list the types of organisms in order in which they would appear during primary succession?
nignag [31]

Answer:

Primary succession is one type of the ecological succession which takes place on the land devoid of vegetation or barren land.

The species which first flourishes on this barren land are known as pioneer species which includes the species of bryophytes and pteridophytes like lichens and mosses.

These lichens and mosses help breakdown the barren rocks through chemical leaching and help increase the nutrient content. This allows the ferns and small pteridophytes to grow.

Then the area is colonized by the intermediate species which includes herbs, shrubs later trees. These intermediate species help attract the animals and thus help establish the biological community.

Thus, Lichens mosses → herbs→ shrubs →trees.
