Does the fact that he chose to fight Jim Crow laws privately change your understanding of Washington’s philosophy?
jeyben [28]

The fact that Booker Washington decided to fight the Jim Crow laws privately does not change my understanding of his policy.

The Policy of Booker Washington

 • He advocated that the black people should not go into violence with the whites.
 • He was also of the opinion that the blacks should try to do things that would help to elevate their social status in the society instead.

This does not change my understanding of what he stood for because he still believed in the equality of races and the fact that the black man needed to be free from segregation.

Why did Adams win the election of 1824
Lubov Fominskaja [6]

In the election 1824, Jackson got the most electoral votes: 99. But he needed 130 to win a majority. The secretary of state, John Quincy Adams, was second. Treasury Secretary William Crawford was third. In order to be elected president, the winning candidate had to win the votes of a majority of electors; should no individual win a majority, the House of Representatives would hold a second election. Adams was elected president with 71 electoral votes, one more than was needed for a majority.
