Answer;

A. carbon-14

Explanation;

 • Relative dating involves the process of determining the age of an object in comparison to another without determining the absolute dating. It may be defined as a method of determining the age of a fossil by comparing its placement with that of fossils in other layers of rock.
 • Carbon-14 is a type of carbon that undergoes radioactive decay at a known rate, and thus may be used in relative dating.
 • The amount of carbon incorporated in an organisms (plants and animals) when its alive stops when an organism die and the amount of carbon-14 begins to decrease at death as it undergoes radioactive decay. This can be used to determine the age of fossils.

Put the last 6 (Creep to Avalanche) in order from Fastest to Slowest.
kompoz [17]

Answer:

creep, solifluction, slump, earthflow, mudflow, debris avalanche, rockfall

Explanation:

Mass movement also known mass wasting is the motion of rock, regolith (loose mixture of soil and rock particles that covers the earth's surface), snow, and ice down a slope. Based on increasing speed of movement, the given mass movement processes are as follows:

Creep- this a very slow, usually continuous movement of regolith down slope.

Solifluction - this is a sediment flow. A sediment flow is a mixture of rock, regolith with some water. The rate solifluction is measured in centimeters per year. It occurs at a faster rate than than creep.

Slumps - is a type of mass movement whereby there is a downward rotation of rock or regolith along a curved surface producing depressions or scars on the slope. It occurs at a faster rate than solifluction.

Earthflows - they usually occur with heavy rains and occur at a much faster rate with velocities between several centimeters per year and hundreds of meters per day.

Mudflows- are a highly fluid mixture of sediment and water which usually result from heavy rains in areas where there is an abundance of loose sediment. These sediments are picked up by flowing streams of water. Mudflows occur at high velocities and can travel long distances.

Debris Avalanches - These are very high velocity mass movements that result from the complete collapse of a mountainous slope. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions usually cause debris avalanches. Avalanches involving snow only is known as snow avalanches.

Rock Falls - Rock falls occur when a piece of rock which may be large or small on a steep slope comes loose and falls down the slope. On its way down it may dislodge other rocks which also fall down the slope. Rock falls are the fastest of the six types of mass movements stated.

Why do birth control pills contain hormones?
Kipish [7]

Birth control pills contain mam-made forms of two hormones called Estrogen and Progestin. Both hormones prevent a woman's ovary from releasing an egg during her menstrual cycle. They do this by changing the levels of the natural hormones the body makes.

Primary succession can occur in which habitat?
ddd [48]
Primary succession is one of two types of biological and ecological succession of plant life, occurring in an environment in which new substrate devoid of vegetation and other organisms usually lacking soil, such as a lava flow or area left from retreated glacier, is deposited. In other words, it is the gradual growth of an ecosystem over a longer period.[1][2]

In contrast, secondary succession occurs on substrate that previously supported vegetation before an ecological disturbance from smaller things like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and fires which destroyed the plant life.[3]

If you wanted to sequence the genome of Ötzi, the 5,300-year-old "Iceman" mummy found in the Alps in 1991, which method would yo
Delvig [45]

The question is incomplete as it does not have the options which are:

a) DNA

b) AGCT

c) PCR

d) SNP

Answer:

PCR (polymerase chain reaction)

Explanation:

The polymerase chain reaction is the technique which replicates and produces multiple copies of the DNA molecule artificially in a short period of time.

The PCR technique employs a variety of enzymes and all the prerequisites which are required in the DNA replication in vivo conditions.

In the given question, if the genome of the mummy has to sequence then after the collection of samples from the bones, the DNA has to replicate through the process of PCR. The samples from the different bone structures can be compared and analysed and a complete genome sequence can be analysed.

Thus, PCR is correct.
