If you were to factor you would do what my teacher likes to call reverse foil so it would look like this (x-9)(x+4) so what you do is you brainsrorm to see what multiplies what to get that and 9*4=36 so that is how you factor -36 to find the -9 Hope this helps if I'm correct if not I will try to find the answer

A building is 24 feet tall and 40 feet wide. If a scale model of this building is 10 inches wide, how tall is the model?
kow [346]

Answer:

The model is 6 inches tall.

Step-by-step explanation:

Write and solve an equation of ratios:

10 in.         x

--------- = ----------

40 ft.      24 ft.

Cross-multiplication yields:

240 in = 40x, so x = 6 inches.

The model is 6 inches tall.

Given AG bisects CD, IJ bisects CE, and BH bisects ED. Prove KE = FD.
OverLord2011 [107]

When a line is bisected, the line is divided into equal halves.

See below for the proof of \mathbf{KE \cong FD}

The given parameters are:

  • <em>AC bisects CD</em>
  • <em>IJ bisects CE</em>
  • <em>BH bisects ED</em>

<em />

By definition of segment bisection, we have:

  • \mathbf{CK \cong KE}
  • \mathbf{EF \cong FD}
  • \mathbf{CE \cong ED}

By definition of congruent segments, the above congruence equations become:

  • \mathbf{CK = KE}
  • \mathbf{EF = FD}
  • \mathbf{CE = ED}

By segment addition postulate, we have:

  • \mathbf{CE = CK + KE}
  • \mathbf{ED = EF + FD}

Substitute \mathbf{ED = EF + FD} in \mathbf{CE = ED}

\mathbf{CK + KE = EF + FD}

Substitute \mathbf{CK = KE} and \mathbf{EF = FD}

\mathbf{KE + KE = FD + FD}

Simplify

\mathbf{2KE = 2FD}

Apply division property of equality

\mathbf{KE = FD}

By definition of congruent segments

\mathbf{KE \cong FD}
