in a new paragraph each time the speaker changes.
"I absolutely, positively do not want to go to that commencement ceremony, Mother. Brenda's graduation is of no significance to me. Why, he'll talk on and on about what a great class this is and what hopes he has for their future. It's a drag, Mother," Tommy said. "You must go, Tommy, dear," Mother returned. "Brenda will be all torn up if you don't."

Answer:

I don't really want to go to that graduation ceremony, Mom. I don't care about Brenda's graduation at all. He won't stop repeating what a great class they were and that they have a great future to go. It's annoying, Mom. - Tommy said-

You've got to go, Tommy. - Mom said - Brenda will be sad if you don't go.

Explanation:

The original conversation shows the use of more formal vocabulary and structure, in the provided answer some of the words and expressions were changed by more popular ones without going to the full opposite by presenting a totally informal conversation all covered with slang words.

Popular words are considered "natural" in spoken English.

Which sentence is punctuated correctly?
nikklg [1K]
<span>On Monday, July 1, Susan Martini, M.D., announced her engagement to Bob Taormina.

A comma between Monday and the date, July 1, is required. The comma after July 1 is needed because On Monday, July 1 is an introductory phrase. Traditional comma rules state that there needs to be a comma between the person's name and his or her title as well as after the title. The first comma shows that the title is not officially part of the person's name (think birth certificate). The second comma shows that the title is connected with the person's name and not a separate part of the sentence. Just a note, more recently it has been acceptable to leave these two commas out. You either have both commas or none. However, for an English assignment on comma rules, the correct answer would be to include the commas.
