I think because they had to leave their home and even though they might be somewhere better it just doesn't feel right to them like its just not where belong or should be.
before she was probably mad or frustrated thats why she hit him but after she either felp bad for hitting him or relieved for getting some anger out and during she felt mad probably or relived for hitting him
