It illustrated that President Wilson had recognized that isolation could not guarantee USA peace and prosperity at the same time, as global politics would always affect the tranquility of the nation. The league of nation that he had conceived which faced a lot of opposition could have gone along way to avoid a large scale war from erupting. the failure by USA to join the it rendered the league of nation a toothless dog.
