Indirect characterization is shown by a protagonist 's actions and words throughout the text.

This can be determined by looks...

For example: The little girl left the game with a slight frown and slumped shoulders.

It can be inferred that the little girl lost the game or her favorite team lost, depending on previous events.

It can also be determined by speech..

For example: "Hey, we can have lots of fun at camp this summer! I love being outdoors!

Based on this, you can infer that the character is upbeat and happy.

Also if it helps I'll tell you how you can tell if it's indirect vs direct.

1. The writer will not directly comment on the character whereas he/she will if it's direct.

2. The personality of the character is revealed through the character's thoughts, actions, speech, and reactions to other characters.

3. The writer will show us what the character is like.
I hope this helped :)

How realistic do you think
Reil [10]
Contrasting with Romeo's desires for Juliet, Tony's love for Maria is that of pothos. Pothos is similar but still different than quixotic love since pothos can be described as pining for love. ... Unlike Romeo, Tony truly does feel love for Maria, and that love is found in the song named after her in the movie.

All of the following could be interpreted as symbols except
Georgia [21]

Answer:

The old man's reference to King Philip's War

Explanation:

This question is about "Young Goodman Brown", where we can see several symbols that add meaning to the story and extend the topics covered.

We can consider as a symbol, Goodman's trip to the desert (it shows that he will go through a moment of adversity and discomfort), the ribbons in Faith's hair (which signify innocence and faith) and the staff that the old man offers to Goodman (represents sin and man's inclination to sin).
