These are the Mechanoreceptors. They are sensory receptors that respond to mechanical pressure, or distortion and bending of the tissue. They are called mechanoreceptors since they are designed to detect mechanical sensations or differences in pressure. They are mainly four types; glabrous mammalian skin, lamellar corpuscles, tactile corpuscles, merkel nerve endings, and bulbous corpuscles.

NARA [144]

Answer:

Options A, B, E, and F are correct

Explanation:

A). In the cell cycle, DNA replication is a process by which a duplicate DNA strand is produced with the help of replication machinery (enzymes, nucleotides, etc.). The overall process ensures that the newly developed strand is free of any mutations (errors) causing the production of wrong proteins at later stages. Although, there are chances of positive, negative or neutral mutations, the replication machinery aims to avoid any such errors at this stage.

B). DNA stores genetic information in the form of codes (known as codon) which needs to be translated in the form of proteins. This process is known as a transcription by which messenger RNA (mRNA) is produced in the nucleolus. Thereon, it is transported outside to encode proteins with the help of ribosomes. The process of copying genetic information on DNA in the form of mRNA is known is transcription.

E). The figure shown is also known as the central dogma of life. According to which, DNA (genetic information) is transcribed into RNA, which is then translated to proteins. In brief, RNA molecules brings the information from nucleous to ribosomes and make proteins. These proteins are often enzymes, hormones, and other biomolecules that perform the important functions in living organisms.

F). DNA and RNA are two types of nucleic acids responsible for all types of life on Earth. Since both of them are well recognized as nucleotides, they are made up of the same genetic building blocks known as nucleotides. Further, each nucleotide is comprised of a five-carbon sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogen base. The sequence of these nucleotides is responsible for the production of specific types of proteins.

In a population of 100 individuals, 50 are genotype MM, 40 are MN, and 10 are NN. What are the frequencies of the M and N allele
mrs_skeptik [129]

Answer:

F(M) = 0.7 F(N)=0.3

Explanation:

We need to take into account that individuals NN and MM only N or M aleles respectively while MN gives just half of the allelic contribution for each. With this in mind we have the following probabilities for getting each of the alleles: MM => p(M) = 1.0 and p(N)=0.0

MN => p(M ) = 0.5 and p(N) = 0.5

NN => P(M) = 0.0 and p(N) = 1.0

With this we can calculate the frequencies of the M and N alleles in the population with 100 individuals using the following formulas

For f(M):

f(M)=\frac{1.0 (MM) + 0.5 (MN)}{Total individuals}

f(M)=\frac{1.0(50)+0.5(40)}{100}

f(M) = \frac{50+20}{100}

f(M)=\frac{70}{100}=\frac{7}{10}=0.7

The frequency of the M allele is 0.7

For f(N):

f(N)=\frac{1.0 (NN) + 0.5 (MN)}{Total individuals}

f(N)=\frac{1.0(10)+0.5(40)}{100}

f(N) = \frac{10+20}{100}

f(M)=\frac{30}{100}=\frac{3}{10}=0.3

The frequency of the N allele is 0.3

The exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the alveoli of the lungs is an example of what?
nignag [31]

Answer:

The correct answer is C) Passive transport

Explanation:

During the respiration process exchange of gases takes place between lungs and blood. This gas exchange is carried by simple diffusion which is a passive transport. Here gas molecule moves from area of higher concentration to the lower concentration area.

The lung's alveoli are surrounded by blood capillaries in which the concentration of CO2 is high while in alveoli concentration or partial pressure of CO2 is low so CO2 moves from blood to alveoli through diffusion.

In the case of oxygen, the concentration of oxygen is high in alveoli and less in blood inside blood capillaries so oxygen moves from alveoli to blood by diffusion. So the right answer is C.
