The Call of the Wild is a novel by Jack London. It focuses on the life of Buck, a pampered dog who lives with a wealthy family i

n southern California. During the Gold Rush, Buck is captured, sold, and eventually shipped to Alaska. At the end of the story, the narrator not only feels compassion for Miss Lottie, but as an adult, she feels her pain as well.... the need for beauty, the passion for marigolds.
