Answer:

470 balls

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of tennis balls Kerns have be x and the number of tennis balls Hardy has be 3x. We want to find their difference: 3x-x = 2x

Total no. of balls = Kerns + Hardy

                            = x + 3x

                            = 4x

4x = 940

2x = \frac{2}{4} × 940

    = 470

Correct answer is : Area of triangle is 15\sqrt{3} sq.units

Solution:-

We can do it in 2 methods.

Method 1:-

Given that AB=6, BC=10 and m∠B = 120

Then area of triangle = \frac{1}{2}XbaseXheight

Let us assume AB is base and D is an altitude from C onto AB.

Then sin(60)= \frac{CD}{BC}

          CD = BC sin(60)

Hence height = 10*\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2} = 5\sqrt{3}

Hence area of ΔABC = \frac{1}{2} X6X5\sqrt{3} = 15\sqrt{3} sq.units

Method2:-

Area of triangle = \frac{1}{2} acsin(B)

Here a= BC=10, c=AB=6.

Hence area of triangle = \frac{1}{2}X6X10sin(120) = 15\sqrt{3} sq.units

Answer: C 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the formula: distance = rate x time

We can say that train 1 travels a distance of x, and train 2 travels a distance of 700 - x

The rate of train 1 is 75 mph, and the rate of train 2 is 100 mph

The time traveled for the two trains will be the same. We can represent that with the variable t.

We have the following equation for train 1:

x = 75t

For train 2, we have this equation:

700 - x = 100t

Use the Substitution Method by replacing x in the equation for train 2 with the value 75t.

700 - 75t = 100t

700 = 175t

700/175 = 4 hours.

It will take 4 hours for the two trains to meet.
