Yeast cells of mating type a are genetically engineered to produce only mating factor α instead of the normal mating factor a. T
liq [111]

Yeast cells

Explanation:

These engineered cells will mate with each other or with normal mating type a cells, but not with normal mating type α

The sexual cell types of yeast are designated a and α, which are correspondingly conferred by the MATa and MATα alleles of the mating type locus (MAT)

Cells of opposite type can mate to establish a cell of the MATα/MATa diploid state because both MAT alleles are co-dominant, such diploid cells are sterile but can undergo meiosis and sporulation to form asci, each of which contains two MATa and two MATα haploid spores

Please Help Its Past Due!
Anarel [89]

Hi!

Question - In 2015 in Alaska, an enormous number of walrus females and their calves gathered on a single beach. In the past, the walruses would use sea ice as a place to rest and nurse their calves, but due to human activity and global warming, large amounts of the ice have melted. Explain what consequences could happen to the walruses and their ecosystem in this situation over time.

Answer - Since there is so much global warming problems it rises the temperature of earth. Female walruses nurse their calves on ice blocks but since most, or not all have been melted they cant nurse in the future because there not used to a different environment. Eventually over time their species will die out and become extinct.
