There are many benefits to using folders when working with lots of files. Here are a few examples:

- You can use folders to sort your files by type, almost like drawers in a desk, so you might have folders for Music, Photographs, Documents, etc.

- You can use folders to group files together into a specific group. For example in your Photographs folder you might have a folder titled BirthdayPhotographs for all the photographs from your birthday.

- As in the example above you can nest folders to create sub-categories. Documents might include folders for Homework, Stories, Poems

- Folders can have different permissions applied to them, allowing you to keep personal files in a private folder only you can access, or secret files in a folder that doesn't show up in the normal list of folders!

The entry to convert from the initial value method to the equity method usually involves a debit to Investment in Subsidiary acc
Nutka1998 [239]

Answer:

Parent's beginning of the year Retained Earnings

Explanation:

"The equity method is an accounting technique used by a company to record the profits earned through its investment in another company. With the equity method of accounting, the investor company reports the revenue earned by the other company on its income statement, in an amount proportional to the percentage of its equity investment in the other company.

When the investor has a significant influence over the operating and financial results of the investee, it can directly affect the value of the investor's investment. The investor records its initial investment in the second company's stock as an asset at historical cost. Under the equity method, the investment's value is periodically adjusted to reflect the changes in value due to the investor's share in the company's income or losses. Adjustments are also made when dividends are paid out to shareholders."

Everett Company has outstanding 30,000 shares of $50 par value, 6% preferred stock and 70,000 shares of $1 par value common stoc
hoa [83]

Answer:

See explanation section.

Explanation:

Requirement A

If the preferred stock is cumulative, cash dividends paid to each class of stock is as follows:

1st year = Cash dividend's for common stock = $0

Cash dividend's for preferred stock = $0

As there is no declaration of cash dividend for the first year.

As the preferred stock is cumulative, preferred dividends for the first year will be given in the 2nd year.

2nd year = Cash dividend's for common stock = $310,000 - $8,400

= 301,600

Cash dividend's for preferred stock = $4,200 + $4,200 = $8,400

Calculation: 1st year dividend = 70,000 × $1 × 6% = $4,200. It will remain same in the 2nd year for the preferred stock.

3rd year = Cash dividend's for common stock = $90,000 - $4,200

= $85,800

Cash dividend's for preferred stock = $4,200

Preferred dividend's remain same for the 3rd year too.

Requirement B

If the preferred stock is non-cumulative, cash dividends paid to each class of stock is as follows:

1st year = Cash dividend's for common stock = $0

Cash dividend's for preferred stock = $0

As there is no declaration of cash dividend for the first year.

As the preferred stock is non-cumulative, preferred dividends for the first year will not be given in the 2nd year.

2nd year = Cash dividend's for common stock = $310,000 - $4,200

= 305,800

Cash dividend's for preferred stock = $4,200

Calculation: 2nd year dividend = 70,000 × $1 × 6% = $4,200.

3rd year = Cash dividend's for common stock = $90,000 - $4,200

= $85,800

Cash dividend's for preferred stock = $4,200

Preferred dividend's remain same for the 3rd year too.
