I would think the best way is to explain to them why it irritates you. Of course, that doesn't always work so some ways of helping would be to think of the reason it irritates you as it may just be a simple problem that can be worked out solely by yourself. The courage to accept responsibility means even if you have wrongly killed someone for an act, you admit you did that, and people will respect you because you can admit you have made a mistake and therefore will learn from it.
