Given:

Remark
The trick to this question is realizing what you took 1/3 of. Did you take it of the 150000 or is it 1/3 of some total you have to find. I don't think you could come up with a third choice.

It turns out that the answer is 1/3 of a number you don't know.

Equation
(1/3) x = 150000 Multiply both sides by 3
3*(1/3) x = 150000 * 3
x = 150000 * 3
x = 450000

Conclusion
The amount the company makes is 450000 dollars / year.

Additive Inverse Property<br><br> 0 = 5c + <br><br> what is the missing number?
Vilka [71]

Answer:

Hi there!

Your answer is:

-5c

The full equation is:

0= 5c + (-5c)

Step-by-step explanation:

The additive inverse is whatever two numbers, when added, equal 0. We have a positive 5c here. To get rid of 5c, we must subtract 5c from 5c

I hope this helps!

For which of the following decreasing functions f does (f−1)′(10)=−1/8
Oduvanchick [21]

Recall the inverse function theorem: if f(x) has an inverse, and if f(a) = b and a = f⁻¹(b), then

f⁻¹(f(x)) = x   ⇒   (f⁻¹)'(f(x)) • f'(x) = 1   ⇒   (f⁻¹)'(f(x)) = 1/f'(x)

⇒   (f⁻¹)'(b) = 1/f'(a)

Let b = 10. Then pick the function f(x) such that f(a) = 10 and f'(a) = -8 for some number a.
