To keep their credibility they had to provide specific information of how exactly they were being mistreated

They added their own signatures to the document in order to show commitment. They also added to the Declaration specific examples of how they were being mistreated, as evidence, to maintain their credibility. A few examples are:

<em>He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good. </em>

<em>He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them. </em>
