The sentence that best supports the idea is C. The Provincial Congress formed by the thirteen colonies during the American Revolution, built a Continental Army under the leadership of General George Washington. This Army together with French Troops defeated the British Army commanded by Cornwallis in 1781 in the Battle of Yorktown.

The Battle boosted American morale and revived French enthusiasm for the war, as well as undermining popular support for the conflict in Great Britain.

This was a long period of wars, battles and negotiations which ended up in the Treaty of Paris in 1873.
