Write a 500-word comparative essay comparing the setting of Eugenia Collier’s short story “Marigolds” (click here to read “Marig

olds”) to a painting or photograph taken during the Great Depression.
Explore Depression Era artwork by conducting a short research through approved school sites.
Choose a work of art to use in your comparative essay. Provide copy of the image in your essay, as well as the Web site url where you viewed the artwork.
Use the Graphic Organizer to help you collect your ideas for your essay.
Credit your sources within your essay using in-text citations and include a works cited list using the MLA Style Guide.

For a painting I would do the American Gothlic. It was created in 1930 (Great Depression.) A good source would be www.culturetime.com

How is Roosevelt’s claim about progress represented by the themes, characters, and events of “Autumntime”? Use RACE2S to answer
MissTica

The theme of Autumntime represents progress because if nature is not valued and protected ,nature which is present in the world today may not be present in the future.

Textual Evidence: A. Lentini writes, “In the yard was a live tree—an oke was what Mom called it. When the news of the tree’s discovery leaked out, quite a few sightseers stopped by to have a look at it, and the local government, realizing the money-making potential, began charging admission and advertising the place. By now it had become a favorite spot for school field trips and family excursions such as ours.“ (‘Autumntime”)

The teller of the book Autumntime means that real live trees are rare in his community . People in society felt that buildings were more important than nature and trees were no longer valued .One tree remained in that community and soon that tree will be gone as well.
