Answer:

He believes that life is full of pain and suffering.

Explanation:

William Shakespeare's tragedy "Hamlet" is about a son's revenge for the killing of his father. The young prince Hamlet had been accosted by his father's ghost in revealing the culprit of the murder. The present king Claudius, who had also taken the queen Gertrude as his wife was also the brother of the dead king.

The soliloquy that is seen in Act 3 scene i of the play is the famous "To be or not to be" speech of Hamlet. The lines

For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,

Th' oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely,

The pangs of despised love, the law’s delay,

The insolence of office, and the spurns

That patient merit of th' unworthy takes,

When he himself might his quietus make

With a bare bodkin?

shows Hamlet's perception of life as something that is full of pain and suffering. He believes that there is no such joy in life, living under constant criticism of superiors, the pangs of unrequited love. The state of affairs in his household/ family is hard to understand for him. His father had been recently killed, his uncle marrying his mother, and with the ghost's declaration that his uncle had been the perpetrator of the murder of his father all made him confused, unable to think straight. His troubled character finds it hard to comprehend why he is still alive when everything seems to be going wrong.
