True.  If a person lived in England, they wouldn't swear allegiance to Canada or another country.  If they are given citizenship they must swear allegiance.

The Continental Army under the command of George Washington was created to coordinate the military efforts of the 13 colonies in the rebellion against British rule.The soldiers had no formal military experience, no uniforms, no established commanders and there were limited firearms. The Continental Army were obvious underdogs. However, The Continental Army did have some advantages over the British Army: their soldiers knew the terrain and could make use of this knowledge using defensive tactics. Also they had great leaders.
