In this excerpt, Prospero is asking Ariel about the "prisoners." Ariel tells him that they have been imprisoned in the grove of trees that protects his room. Ariel explains their situation, and we learn that they are victims of the power and control of Prospero. They are in a crazed state of mind, sad and astonished. Ariel tells Prospero that if he were to see hem he would feel sorry for them.
