Ilya ratio = 7
Dan's ratio= 5
total ratio = 7+5=12
ilya share of hats =
\frac{7}{12} \times 360 = 210
dans share of hats =
\frac{5}{12} \times 360 = 150
so ilya has 60 more hats than Dan
210 - 150 = 60

The simplified ratio is Ilya:Dan:Total = 7:5:12
The non-simplified total is 360, so the ratio would be x:y:360
12•30=360, so you must multiply the other parts of the ratio by 30 in order to find out x and y
7•30=210
5•30=150
So, the ratio is 210:150:360
Ilya had 210 hats, Dan had 150, for a total of 360.
210-150=60
Ilya had 60 more hats than Dan

Can a vector have nonzero magnitude if a component is zero? if no, why not? if yes, give an example.
dangina [55]

Can a vector have nonzero magnitude if a component is zero?

Yes, a vector can have zero components along a line and still have a non-zero magnitude.

Example: Consider a two dimensional vector 2i + 0j. This vector has zero components along a line lying along the Y - axis and a non- zero component along the X - axis. The magnitude of the vector is also non - zero.

Now, magnitude of 2i + 0j = \sqrt2^2+\sqrt0^2=2
