Michelangelo and Bernini played the same character in the same plot. Michelangelo trying to eternalize in stone the perfect version of the human form and Bernini more focused on telling a story and inviting the viewer to imagine the next movement, the next action of his creation. Both sculptures, however, show us the beauty, strength, and confidence of David through fearless postures, visible ribcages, and pronounced musculature.
