The Bessemer process was the first inexpensive industrial process for the mass-production of steel from molten pig iron. The process is named after its inventor, Henry Bessemer, who took out a patent on the process in 1855. The key principle is the removal of impurities from the iron by oxidation with air being blown through the molten iron. Steel was produced in great quantities before Bessemer's invention, but its quality varied widely. The need to constructing large machines, and large structures, such as suspension bridges required high-quality steel, and it was only possible because of Bessemer's invention.

Which of the following events gave the first humans the ability to migrate from Asia to America?
MrRissso [65]

The correct answer is D. The uncovering of a land bridge that connected the two continents.

Explanation:

In general, scientific evidence and studies show the first people that settled in the American continent were Asian migrants. Moreover, the first migrations from other continents to America occurred around 14000 years ago through the Bering Strait, which is a natural land bridge that connects Asia to America.

Also, by the time the first migrations occurred this land bridge was exposed due to low-level oceans, which allowed people from Asia to migrate to the Americas by walking as they follow animal herds. According to this, the event that made possible the migration from Asia to America was the uncovering of the land bridge that connects the two continents (option D).

Who conducted the doll experiment, and how did this experiment contribute to the civil rights movement in the United States?
MAXImum [283]

Answer:

The doll experiment was conducted by Kenneth and Mamie Clark. Their experiment suggested that, due to segregation, African American children preferred white dolls, attributed more positive characteristics to white dolls, and felt inferior. This experiment played an important role in the desegregation of American schools and was even cited in the landmark US Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education, which was an important event in the civil rights movement.
