Converting feet to inches, 8*12=96 and 96*4=384. Next, 40*12=480. Since 384*x (if x represents the cost per inch of crown molding)=16*100=1600 cents due to that for every inch, we add x amount of money, we can find x to be 1600/384=800/192=400/96=200/48=100/24=50/12=25/6 by simply dividing both the numerator and denominator by 2 each time. Since we add x amount of money for every inch, and we have 480 inches, 480*x=480*25/6=2000 cents=2000/100=20 dollars is our answer

Use elimination to solve each system if equation 3x+2y=0and x-5y=17
kotykmax [81]

Answer:

y = -3

x=2

Step-by-step explanation:

3x + 2y = 0

x - 5y=17

to use the elimination you have to make one of the numbers same

so

3(x-5y=17)

and you would have to change the sign so that both of the 3x could cancel out.

New system of equation

3x + 2y = 0

-3x+15y=-51

17y=-51

y = -3

so we know the y value so now you could find the x value take one equation

x - 5y=17

x +15=17

x = 2

you could try it with both of the equations

3x + 2y = 0

3x + - 6=0

3x-6=0

3x=6

x=6/3

x=2

Please answer the following questions
shutvik [7]

Answer:

a) 8.8 square centimetres

b) 31.8 square centimetres

c) (3a + 12) square centimetres

d) Area = (2b + 2c + 4) square centimetres

Step-by-step explanation:

a) We have to split the diagram into three separate rectangles as shown below.

The area of A:

Area = 5.3 * 1 = 5.3 square centimetres

The area of B:

Area = 3.3 * 1 = 3.3 square centimetres

The area of C:

Area = 2 * 1 = 2 square centimetres

The area of the shape is the sum of the areas of the three shapes:

Area = 5.3 + 3.3 + 2 = 8.8 square centimetres

b) We have to split the diagram into two separate rectangles as shown below.

Note:(The diagram has conflicting values for 2.6 and 2.1 but I went with 2.6 as it seems more feasible in the diagram)

The area of A:

Area = 3 * 2.6 = 7.8 square centimetres

The area of B:

Area = 6 * 4 = 24 square centimetres

The area of the shape is the sum of the areas of the two shapes:

Area = 7.8 + 24 = 31.8 square centimetres

c) The shape is a rectangle and so its area is:

Area = 3 * (a + 4) = (3a + 12) square centimetres

d) The shape is a trapezium and so its area is:

Area = 0.5(A + B)H

where A =  c cm

B = b + 2 cm

H = 4 cm

The area of the shape is therefore:

Area = 0.5 * (c + b + 2) * 4

Area = 2 * (b + c + 2)

Area = (2b + 2c + 4) square centimetres
