You are a graduate student at Louisiana State University doing research on the use of wetlands to treat domestic waste water (se

wage). During your research, you have found that wetlands generally reduce nitrogen content by as much as 70 percent and phosphorus by up to 90 percent. While at a department picnic, you find yourself in a conversation with an individual interested in the summer dead zone that forms in the Gulf of Mexico. Make an argument for restoring wetlands in the Mississippi River drainage basin as a strategy to reduce the size and severity of the dead zone.

Answer:

The summer dead zones are increasing mainly in the East Coast of the Southern United States and Mexico. These zones exhibit low oxygen availability and destruct the native marine ecosystem. It negatively influences food security, fish stocks, and local tourism.

The small ecosystem surrounding the coastal regions are known as wetlands. These are a small shrubs community that possess the tendency to minimize the most of phosphorus and nitrogen from the water. The drainage water comprises huge concentrations of human and kitchen waste. It generally comprises phosphorus and nitrogenous components that get oxidized in water. The conditions utilize the majority of oxygen-producing a hypoxia situation.

The wetlands can solve the issues of summer dead zone in a more sustainable and natural way. By developing, wetlands around the excess polluted water one can transform it into less toxic. The fishes can begin to grow in clean water and the marine life could flourish again. The wetlands are needed to be developed in novel regions and safeguarded in the prevailing regions to inhibit any further dead zones.

You can say that the reason they need to do this is because it is polluting the water and killing the life within. This then effects farms because they sell fish. This will affect their income which means they can't buy the supplies they need to grow crops. Then supply and demand will go up but they won't have any which will affect the people.
Hope that helps XD
