Can muscles contract if there isn't any free calcium in the cell?

Biology

On getting signal from the brain the muscles contract as the body pulls calcium from the blood to the muscle cells. Calcium binds with troponin drawing it out of its position and tropomyosin follows troponin as these two proteins are linked together. On movement of the troponin and tropomyosin, actin and myosin activation occurs and they move towards each other thus contracting the muscle. Therefore, free calcium is required for muscle contraction.

The correct answer would be D. beaks of finches

I chose this answer because in the Galapagos islands, the species of finches were forced to separate into several different environments, where there were different foods and plants. They lived in these environments for many years and eventually the beaks of these birds adapted to the environment around them. So the finches in one environment may have gotten longer beaks to eat fruits and get honey better, while one may have gotten a smaller but longer beak to gather and break nuts easier.

Hope this helps!

The Chi Square value for this cross is 0.086. The degrees of freedom is 1 and using a p value of 0.05, it can be proved that there is no significant difference between the observed distribution and the theoretical distribution. Thus, we accept the results.
