Where 1 $ = 100 cents. That implies, $5.40 = 540 cents

So,

the total value of the coins = 540 cents

⇒ 20(x) + 10(x + 12) = 540

⇒ 30x = 540 - 120

⇒ 30x = 420

∴ x = 40

Hence, there are 40 coins with Jun Wei.
