Flooding

Explanation:

Increased development can create more flooding as a result of the replacement of large land areas with concrete and asphalt.

Flooding is the inundation of an area with excess water.

  • When water falls in area in form of rain, some part of the rain percolates into groundwater system and stores in aquifer.
  • The pore spaces in soils also serves as drains for water.
  • When the ground surface is covered with pavings, the water is unable to reach the ground water system.
  • This leaves a lot of water on the surface with no where to go thereby causing flooding.

Why would losing just a few dozen aquatic species lead to the end of life in the ocean as we know it?
Ilia_Sergeevich [38]

Answer: It would unbalance the ecosystem.

Due to the fact that if some species die off, the other species that rely on those species for food or protection would loose that food/ protection which may lead to their extinction and their extinction would lead to another extinction and so on.
