Find the missing length to the nearest tenth.<br> Right Triangle<br> 6 m<br> C<br> 16 m
nikitadnepr [17]

Answer:

17.1 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

Since this is a right triangle, we can use the Pythagorean Theorem.

a^2+b^2=c^2

where a and b are the legs and c is the hypotenuse.

6 and 16 are the legs, because they form the right angle. c is the hypotenuse because it is opposite the right angle.

6^2+16^2=c^2

Evaluate the exponents.

6^2= 6*6= 36

16^2= 16*16= 256

36+256=c^2

Add 36 and 256.

292=c^2

Since c is being squared, take the square root of both sides of the equation. The exponent and square root will cancel and leave c by itself

\sqrt{292} =\sqrt{c^2}

\sqrt{292}=c

17.0880075=c

Round to the nearest tenth. The 8 in the hundredeth place tells us to roung the 0 in the tenth place up to a 1.

17.1=c

c= 17.1 m

The missing length, or the hyptenuse is 17.1 meters.

Reflect the given triangle over<br> the line y=x.<br><br> [3 6 3<br> -3 3 3]
iragen [17]

If reflected over y = x

<u>then use</u>

<u />\left[\begin{array}{ccc}0&1\\1&0\end{array}\right]

=====================

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}0&1\\1&0\end{array}\right]  \left[\begin{array}{ccc}3&6&3\\-3&3&3\end{array}\right]

similar as (x, y) → (y, x)

<u>multiply the matrixes to get the final answer</u>

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}(3*0+1*-3)&(6*0+1*3)&(3*0+1*3)\\(3*1+(-3*0)&(1*6+0*3)&(1*3+0*3)\end{array}\right]

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}-3&3&3\\3&6&3\end{array}\right]

Please help! 3rd grade homework is hard!
Assoli18 [71]
(6×5) + (6×2) = 6×7

It works if you think about it like this:
5 sixes + 2 sixes = (5 + 2) sixes = 7 sixes

This is an example of the <em>distributive property</em>.
To put it simply, we're applying the same multiplication (×6) to two different things which are being added together (5+2).

Here's another example of the distributive property:
2×(3+4) = 2×3 + 2×4
