The correct answer is C) workers had to dig out tons of earth in rugged, jungle-filled terrain under hot tropical conditions.

The statement that highlights the difficulties facing by those working in the Panama Canal is “workers had to dig out tons of earth in rugged, jungle-filled terrain under hot tropical conditions.”

President Theodore Roosevelt decided on the final place of the Panama Canal. The difficult Project would link the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean in order for cargo ships to cross right there and shorten the trips. Many people died during the construction of the Canal due to accidents, Malaria disease, and extremely hot climate conditions. Furthermore, workers had to dig out tons of earth in rugged, jungle-filled terrain under hot tropical conditions. For those reasons, the government offered the U.S. workers a good salary, medical insurance, and housing.

What are the three key events of the 1950s that helped to end segregation
swat32

Here are three key events that helped to end segregation in the US

1) Brown vs Board of Education (1954)- This Supreme Court case ruled that "separate but equal" schools for black and white students was a violation of the 14th amendment. This would help to end segregation in public schools, allowing for black and white students to attend the same schools.

2) Montgomery Bus Boycott (1955)- After Rosa Parks was physically removed and arrested for sitting in the whites only section of the bus, African American citizens of Montgomery refused to ride public buses until the seating policies were changed. In other words, African Americans wanted to be able to sit wherever they wanted to on the public bus. After one year, the city of Montgomery lost a significant amount of money since there were less people riding their buses. This resulted in the changing of their seating policy, allowing African American citizens to sit wherever they want.

3) Little Rock 9 (1957)- When 9 African American students wanted to attend the previously all white Central High School in Little Rock Arkansas, they were rejected. However, thanks to the US National Guard sent in by Eisenhower, these students were able to attend this school. This helped to end segregation in Arkansas schools.

How did the people of paris greet the first american troops? with guerrilla warfare with respectful silence with cheers and flow
vlabodo [156]

The first American troops in Paris were greeted very warmly: the joy of liberation created girls from Paris greet American soldiers by kissing them; crowds would blaze up the streets to be able to compliment the parading troops after the liberation.

What was America's first army?

In the early months of the American Revolution, the first regular U.S. fighting force, the Continental Army, was collected by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1775. It comprised the 22,000 militia troops then surrounding Boston and an additional 5,000 militiamen in New York.

When was the US military at its biggest?

The numbers for all benefits spiked in 1968-69 as U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War reached its peak. All dropped dramatically as that war drew down. But even the height of the Vietnam War pales in comparison to World War II. In 1945, there were over 12 million active duty army personnel.
