Why was it difficult to get North Carolinians to agree to ratify the Constitution?
stepan [7]

Answer:

It was difficult for North Carolina to agree to ratify the constitution because the constitution lacked the bill of rights

Explanation:

North Carolina did not join the union till the bill of rights was ratified in the coming year 1789. The Hillsborough convention was one of the conventions that took place i order to ratify the U.S  constitution in 1788. There were about 270 delegates who convened in Hillsborough on July, 1788.

The federalist wanted to keep the country from dissolving, hence they decided to strengthen the powers of the federal government, Their argument was that the powers in the articles of confederation granted to them were insufficient. so they convened to debate on whether to ratify the constitution drafted in 1787, or reject it.

Was the homestead act authorized giving away land to settlers who were willing to improve it
kobusy [5.1K]
Signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln on May 20, 1862, the Homestead Act<span> encouraged Western migration by providing settlers 160 acres of public land. In exchange, homesteaders paid a small filing fee and were required to complete five years of continuous residence before receiving ownership of the land. This was meant to help out Americans while the government was still generating a steady income from the land.
