Your teacher spent 55$ on tulips and daffodils. a pot of tulips cost 5$ and a pot of daffodils cost 4$. if your teacher bought 12 pots, how many pots of each kind of flower did your teacher buy

I used the process of elimination so there's no real method here but: 5x7=35
55-35=20
4x5=20
35+20=55
Tulips= 7
Daffodils= 5

7 tulips and 5 daffodils. An easy way to work this out is to list the multiples of both 5 and 4 until you get up to 55. Then you can find one number from each list which would add up to 55( which in this case would be 35 and 20) 35 being 7th in the 5 times table and 20 being 5th in the 4 times table.
