<span>The challenge of balancing individual rights with the good of the public is that individuals demand preservation of their rights even though they need to be flexed at times in order to ensure the good of the public and the preservation of public policy. A real world example of how this is handled is that all individuals have the right to freedom of speech given by the first amendment, yet individuals cannot use hate speech as a means to incite violence. This is a way that an individual right has been pressed upon in order to preserve the public good.</span>
