A paper company needs to ship paper to a large printing business. The paper will be shipped in small boxes and large boxes. Each

small box of paper weighs 50 pounds and each large box of paper weighs 85 pounds. There were 2 more small boxes shipped than large boxes and the total weight of all boxes was 1180 pounds. Determine the number of small boxes shipped and the number of large boxes shipped.

Answer:

Large boxes = 8 Small boxes = 10

Step-by-step explanation:

This took me a while to remember how to do it has been so long!

First, look at just the boxes. Not the weights.

Large boxes + (Small boxes + 2) = Total

Lets use x for boxes.

x + (x+2) = y

now lets factor in weight were total weight equals "y" and pounds of boxes is multiplied by the respective box.

85x + 50(x+2) = 1180

85x + 50x+ 100 = 1180\\135x+100=1180\\135x+100-100=1180-100\\135x=1080\\\frac{135x}{135} = \frac{1080}{135} \\x=8

but remember when we were just looking at the boxes?

Large boxes + (Small boxes + 2) = Total

where large box = x and small box = x+2

this means

large box = 8 and small box = 8+2 = 10

Hope this helps!

At Greenwood Landscaping, rock costs $47.50 per ton. How much would 2.5 tons cost?
Grace [21]

Answer:

Hey!

Your answer is $118.75!

Step-by-step explanation: How did I get this?

STEP 1: So we know that for a ton of rock costs us $47.50...

To get 2 tons all we have to do is to MULTIPLY $47.50 by 2...

(47.50 x 2 = 95)

STEP 2: So for $95, you will get 2 tons of rock!

Now to get the .5 tons of rock in price form, we have to get the price of the whole 2.5 tons and DIVIDE BY 2

(47.50 ÷ 2 = 23.75)

STEP 3: So now we have the costs for 2 tons and the price for HALF a ton.

What we do now is easy...we ADD THE VALUES TOGTHER!

(95 + 23.75 = $118.75)

The result of $118.75 after adding them together is the PRICE OF 2 TONS!

I HOPE THIS HELPED YOU!

How do I solve this?
maksim [4K]

Answer:

Answer A represents this

x <= -3 ; x > 9

Step-by-step explanation:

Isolate x on each of the inequalities:

4 x + 4 <= - 8

subtract 4 from both sides

4 x <= - 12

divide both sides by 4 to isolate x completely (notice 4 is positive, so there is NO flipping of the inequality symbol)

x <= -3

This inequality is represented by shading the left section of the number line starting at x = -3 (make sure you draw a SOLID dot to mae clear that the point x = -3 is also included in your drawing.

The other inequality:

11 x - 11 > 88

add 11 to both sides

11 x > 99

divide both sides by 11 to isolate x (notice again that 11 is a positive number, so the inequality doesn't change with the division)

x > 9

This inequality is represented by shadowing the right hand side of the number line starting at x = 9. Make sure you draw an EMPTY dot on the number 9 to indicate that x = 9 is NOT included.

vesna_86 [32]

Answer:

(Choice C) 24+12R ≤100

$56

Step-by-step explanation:

Sofia ordered sushi for a company meeting. They change plans and increase how many people will be at the meeting, so they need at least 100 pieces of sushi in total. Sofia had already ordered and paid for 24 pieces of sushi, so she needs to order additional sushi. The sushi comes in rolls, and each roll contains 12 pieces and costs $8 Let R represent the number of additional rolls that Sofia orders.

1)

Which inequality describes this scenario?

Choose 1 answer:

(Choice A) 12+ 24R ≤ 100

(Choice B) 12+24R ≥ 100

(Choice C) 24+12R ≤100

(Choice D) 24+12 ≥100

2)

What is the least amount of additional money Sofia can spend to get the sushi they need?

ans) ___ dollars

please solve fast !!!! thank you from advance :)

The sushi comes in rolls, and each roll contains 12 pieces and costs $8 Let R represent the number of additional rolls that Sofia orders

Sofia has ordered 24 pieces

Sofia needs 100 pieces

sushi comes in rolls

12 pieces per roll

= 12R

24 + 12R ≤ 100

(Choice C) 24+12R ≤100

B.

24 + 12R ≤ 100

12R ≤ 100 - 24

12R ≤ 76

R ≤ 76 / 12

R ≤ 6.33

Approximately 7 rolls

Sofia will order 7 more rolls

Each roll cost $8

R ≤ 7

7 × 8

= $56
