Answer:

White settlers did not interupt the Indians from their position, population, and other objectives. The "White Men" came and attacked and defended AFTER being provoked by Indian attacks, kidnappings, scalpings, tourture, livestock stealing, and other things that the Indians did to the settlers due to their brutal and somewhat barbaric ways. (Section C American History- New Frountiers and New Troubles pg. 168 California Virtual School Usd CC)

The conflict between white settlers and tribal groups that was the most damaging to the American Indian race was probably the<em> California’s genocide</em>.  

Explanation:

When gold was found in at nearby Sutter’s Mill in 1848, it attracted white settlers looking for prosperity. But it was a disaster to the indigenous population, for in 20 years 80% of the Native Americans were wiped out, witch between 9,000 and 16,000 of them were murdered in cold blood.  

The white settlers and the California government forced them to labor and enslaved native people. In fact, the state legislature -<em> An Act for the Government and Protection of Indians, from April 22, 1850</em> – had in its 1st session, basically, legal basis for enslaving as it gave the white settlers the right to take custody of Native American children, for example.
