Viruses are the biological, infective agents which reproduce inside the body of the host. they have a definite boundary around them separating their genetic material from the surroundings.

The viruses display made up of the core of the genetic material, that is the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), or the RNA (Ribonucleic acid). They are not made up of the cells.

The viruses never exhibits the signs of growth and development, and there is no internal organization in the viruses as there are no organs present.

Since, they never grow or have metabolic process, they have no need to eliminate waste either.

Answer:

Characters displayed by virus -1. has a defined boundary

Characters not displayed by virus-1. made up of one or more cells

                                               2. uses energy

                                               3. exhibits growth and development processes

                                               4.  internal organization

                                               5. eliminates waste

Virus is a biological agent which requires a living host cell to complete its life cycle as they replicate inside a living host.

Outside the host cells they exist as a capsid or protein coat enclosing the genetic material- DNA or RNA which, codes for the virus elements. They lack cell organelle, cytoplasm and internal organization. so they are not cellular.

They are metabolically inert that is not able to perform any metabolic functions outside host, so, not use energy and produce any waste.

Thus, they do not show most of the characters of a cell.

Wild diploid wheat has seven chromosomes in its pollen. Discuss the major events that had to occur for tetraploid pasta wheat to
lianna [129]

Answer:

Tetraploid wheat evolved by allopolyploidization and subsequent diploid-like behavior due to cytological diploidization

Explanation:

Durum wheat (<em>Triticum durum</em>) or pasta wheat, is a tetraploid wheat species that has 28 chromosomes, i.e., seven pairs in each genome (2n = 4x = 28). Durum wheat was domesticated from wild emmer wheat, which originated by hybridization of two diploid wheat species with 14 chromosomes: <em>Triticum monococcum</em> (genome AA) and one wild progenitor (genome BB). <em>Triticum durum </em>is a typical example of evolution by hybridization and polyploidization, where the resultant tetraploid species has two complete sets of chromosomes. Allopolyploidization is one of the most common types of plant speciation. During meiosis, 28 chromosomes form 14 homologous chromosome pairs, because homologous chromosomes have developed 'restriction of pairing' (i.e., cytological diploidization). The restriction of pairing to fully homologous chromosomes ensures a correct meiotic behavior, which otherwise would be altered due to the high level of homology that still exists among chromosomes from different wheat progenitors.
