The Progressive Era is a period of widespread social activism and political reform across the United States that spanned from the 1890s to the 1920s. The main objectives of the Progressive movement were eliminating problems caused by industrialization, urbanization, immigration, and corruption in government.

UNICEF stands for United Nations Children's Fund. It was created by the United Nations General Assembly on 11 December 1946. The reason for creating UNICEF was to see to the provision of emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries that were ravaged by the second world war.

UNICEF carries out its activities mostly in underdeveloped third world countries that are still battling with issues such as lack of access to quality education, poor infant and maternal health, malnutrition as well as high rate of mother and child pre- and post-natal fatalities.

UNICEF is involved in various programs that improve the society and are targeted towards women and children. They try to work on societal issues such as;  poverty alleviation programs, preventing gender discrimination, protecting the rights of children etc.
