Answer: B. Buoyancy

Explanation: The asthenosphere exerts a buoyant force that pushes up against the lithosphere, and this force resists gravity. The theory of isostasy refers to an equilibrium in buoyancy between the lithosphere and the asthenosphere.

Answer:

A. Ridge push from the asthenosphere is responsible for isostatic uplift.

Explanation:

Ridge push otherwise sliding plate or gravitational sliding force is a force that causes plate tectonics motion at the mid-ocean ridge. The movement pushes the old plate material back into the subduction zone or the asthenosphere.

The uplift is the process of slow rise of the land which result in formation of mountains, the isostatic uplift refers the rise of the crust.

The force, however, acts on the entire ocean plate and not only on the ridges due to gravitational force. It is called ridge push because earlier models of plate tectonics during simulations showed the up welling of the magma during spreading of the sea-floor at mid-oceans ridges which cause plate to diverge.

Sand grains can be distinguished from silt grain by ____.
Shalnov [3]
#1) Sand grains can be distinguished from silt grain by ____.
Answer: The answer is size. Sand grains are finer than gravel and coarser than silt. Sand is a naturally occurring granular material composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. Silt is granular material silt particles are larger than clay but smaller than sand particles, whose mineral origin is quartz and feldspar.

How does the ocean affect the weather and climate?
Rufina [12.5K]
If you live near the ocean, usually the weather is warmer than the inland because the jet stream has warm air coming from the equator and then that's why if you live near the California beaches, it's warmer . It also might being more fair weather to wear you live

BD is the angle bisector of ZABC
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

x = 7, y = 2

Explanation:

Two triangles are said to be congruent if all three sides and three angles of one triangle is equal to three sides and three angles of the other triangle.

From the question:

BD ≅ BD (reflexive property of equality)

Since BD is the angle bisector of ∠ABC, hence ∠ABD = ∠CBD

∠ABD = 2x + y, ∠CBD = 14 + y. Therefore:

2x + y = 14 + y

2x = 14 + y - y

2x = 14

x = 14 / 2

x = 7

Also, ∠BAD = ∠BCD = 90° (right angled triangle)

Since ∠BAD = ∠BCD, BD ≅ BD and ∠ABD = ∠CBD, therefore ΔABD is congruent to ΔCBD by angle-angle-side congruence theorem.

The angle-angle-side congruence theorem states that if two angles and one side of one triangle is equal to two angles and one side of another triangle the both triangles are congruent.

ΔABD is congruent to ΔCBD, therefore AD = CD

5x - y = x + 13y

13y + y = 5x - x

14y = 4x

14y = 4(7)

y = 4(7) / 14

y = 2
