Speed is distance divided by time.

speed = distance/time

Now we solve the above equation for time.

speed * time = distance

time = distance/speed

time = (8.715 km)/(8.3 km/h) = 1.05 h

Answer: It takes 1.05 hours, or 1 hour and 3 minutes

Let's look at an equation. X will be hours while Y will be distance.
8.3x=y
We're doing speed×time=distance

For this case, we need to solve for x. So, our equation will look like:
8.3x=8.715
So get x alone, we need to divide both sides by 8.3. So the equation to find how long it took is:
8.715÷8.3=x
We are doing distance÷speed=time. Let's solve.
8.715÷8.3=1.05

So, it took 1.05 hours.

Help .<br> i need help with something like this
In-s [12.5K]

The width of a book is 1.5 inches.

The total width of 79 books is 1.5×79

= 118.5 inches.

The cost of a 34.5 inch wide shelf is $12.95

Therefore, the cost of a 118.5 inch wide shelf will be:

(Let the cost of the 118.5 inch wide shelf be x)

\frac{34.5}{12.95}  =  \frac{118.5}{x}  \\ cross \: multipy \\ 34.5x = 118.5 \times 12.95 \\ x =  \frac{118.5 \times 12.95}{34.5}  \\ x = 44.48

x= $44.48

The true conditional statement, "If 5x + 7 = 2x - 1, then 3x + 7 = -1," illustrates which property of equality?
il63 [147K]
<span>The given condition is:
If 5x + 7 = 2x =1, then 3x + 7 = -1
=> This given equation represent  a subtraction property of equality.
=> 5x +7 =2x-1
=> 5x – 2x + 7 = -1
=> 3x + 7 = -1

What we did was  we subtracted 2x from 5x to get the 3x
Subtraction property of equality is a mathematical process in where we subtract numbers from both sides that contains the same expression.
Like 5x and 2x, since they have the same equation, we both subtracted both numbers and the rest remains as it is.
