Although the Dakota Territory was organized in 1861, the population was quite small, and the majority of the population were Ame

rican Indians. The Homestead Act of 1862 drew homesteaders, and soon large cattle ranches were proving to Americans that farmers could be successful in the northern Great Plains. Transportation became easier between 1871 and 1889, when more than two thousand lines of railroad track were laid across the state. The effect on the population was dramatic. In 1860 the white population of North Dakota was 2,576. By 1889, that number had jumped to 191,000. Both North Dakota and South Dakota were able to apply for statehood. According to the passage, what were effects of the Homestead Act? Check all that apply. New states were added to the Union. The number of railroads declined. The population grew in the territories. The cattle-ranching industry grew. Transportation became more difficult in the territories.

New states were added, population grew in the territories, and cattle-ranching industry grew.

The Homestead Act provided a reward and reason for settlers to move West. With expanding population in the East, the West offered more space and cheap land. Many white immigrants moved West, willing to take the risk of settlement. This population increase caused more innovation in the West as well as an expansion of States in the Union.

How much is in a saving account that started with $500 and earned 7.5% compound interest for 2 years
Lemur [1.5K]

The saving account will have 575.125 USD after 2 years.

Explanation:

Usually, when people want to save money in a bank, they get a particular compound interest rate. This is of benefit for both sides, as the bank has the money at disposal and uses them, while the saver gets certain amount of money because of it. The interest rates can vary greatly, and in this case we have 7.5%, which is a very large interest rate in modern times.

If the saver has 500 USD at the beginning, and leaves the money in the bank for two years, he/she will get solid amount of compound interest for it. In order to get to the result we simply need to add 7.5% of the amount to it, and for the next year to add 7.5% on the amount that has accumulated from the previous year:

(500/100)x7.5 = 537.5

(537.5/100)x7.5 = 575.125

We get a result of 575.125, meaning that the saver has managed to gain 75.125 in the two years that the 500 USD have been in the bank.

emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

B. angered people in other Latin American countries.

The Dollar Diplomacy was Taft's foreign policy plan to remove military intervention in Latin America but remain in economic control.

Dollar Diplomacy promised the removal of American troops however to maintain economic control, the military was often used to intervene. In Nicaragua, the military was used to stage a political coup (overthrow) so bring in a pro-US government. This angered many in Nicaragua as well as surrounding countries. There was fear the US would continue imperial control, manipulating the newly formed governments in Latin America.
