I’m assuming you’re not talking about their typical fire season, but rather the recent outbreak. I’ll list some facts about the current situation, but if you’re actually asking about what’s normal, just let me know and I’ll correct my list.

1. So far, twenty four people have been charged with assisting the spread of the fire.

2. Although fire seasons are typical in Australia, this years has been far more intense, and actually started earlier than usual. Scientists believe this to be due to climate change.

3. Last year, scientists actually warned the people that future years fire seasons (This years!) would be more intense than what they’ve seen before. Their prime minister ignored this warning.

4. So far, 26 people have died in the fires.

5. An estimated 1 billion animals have died at the hand of the fire so far.

6. It’s thought that the fires are caused by a prolonged drought (in addition to climate change.)

7. In December, the smoke in Sydney was calculated to be about 11 times the hazardous amount.

8. Strong winds are helping the fire spread rapidly.

9. Imagine Central Park. Now, imagine 21,309 Central Parks all lined up next to each other. That’s about the amount of land that has been burnt so far.

10. Prime Minister Scott Morrison offers to pay up to 6k to those who volunteer to work more than 10 days fighting fires.

Find the coordinates of the midpoint of HX
marta [7]

Answer:

M(29, -12)

Explanation:

Given:

H(4\frac{1}{2}, -3\frac{1}{4}), X(2\frac{3}{4}, -2\frac{3}{4})

Required:

Coordinates of the Midpoint of HX

Solution:

Midpoint (M) of HX, for H(4\frac{1}{2}, -3\frac{1}{4}), X(2\frac{3}{4}, -2\frac{3}{4}) is given as

M(\frac{x_1 + x_2}{2}, \frac{y_1 + y_2}{2}).

Let H(4\frac{1}{2}, -3\frac{1}{4}) = (x_1, y_1)

X(2\frac{3}{4}, -2\frac{3}{4}) = (x_2, y_2)

Thus:

M(\frac{4\frac{1}{2} + 2\frac{3}{4}}{2}, \frac{-3\frac{1}{4} + (-2\frac{3}{4})}{2})

Convert to improper fractions

M(\frac{\frac{9}{2} + \frac{11}{4}}{2}, \frac{-\frac{13}{4} + (-\frac{11}{4})}{2})

M(\frac{\frac{18 + 11}{2}}{2}, \frac{\frac{-13 - 11}{4}}{2})

M(\frac{\frac{29}{2}}{2}, \frac{\frac{-24}{4}}{2})

M(\frac{29}{2}*2, \frac{-24}{4}*2

M(29, -12)
