Why has Machiavelli’s The Prince evoked so much discussion and controversy? What do readers find enlightening, horrifying, or di
Hatshy [7]

"The prince" was the first book that didn't take politics as something ethical or philosophical. Machiavelli wrote it to Lorenzo di Medici as a "guide" to maintain his power. Ancient philosophers were focused on constucting the ideal state. That means, they mentioned the characteristics of a succesfull  monarchy for example, but did not considered the things as they were at that moment. Readers find disturbing the tactics that Machiavelli describes to gain or maintain power as they include making people fear you or destroying your enemies. This book is always resumed with the phrase "The end justifies the means",  making it clear that the rulers can do anything to maintain their power.

The controversy is understandable, this books shows how cruel can reality be and how politics scrifice ethics in the name of power. The discussion is still relevant nowadays. How far can politicians go to win an election?

WRITE A SPEACH ON CHILD RIGHTS
mel-nik [20]

Answer:

Thank you so much for the invitation to speak today. My name is XXX and I’m an XXXX. My research is on child poverty, social exclusion, and children’s participation. So today I'm gonna talk about child rights.

Children’s rights is a topic which is very much in the limelight of the world today. Parents are more concerned about the development of their child rather than the rights of the child. One does not have to be a parent to understand the importance of children rights. Children are the future of the world. They are the ones who will be able to contribute to the development of the country. They have a right to education, health and proper nutrition. Therefore, the rights of every child should be protected.

Child labour is a serious issue in every country. The painful reality that children have to work in order to contribute to the family income is an issue that has been debated about many times and is still in courts every day. Child rights are a subject of debate which engages many people, especially in developed countries. Despite this, the concept is one that needs to be taken seriously, as it has immense implications for children.

Hope it helps:)

which sentence from marigolds develops the idea that the narrator is learning the importance of understanding what makes a perso
Sloan [31]

"Marigolds" takes place in a rural African-Amercian community during the 1930s. While reading the story you can see how the setting influences the narrator's experiences and the conflicts she faces. The last two sentences develop the idea that the narrator is learning the importance of understanding what makes a person unique: " For one does not have to be ignorant and poor to find that one’s life is barren as the dusty yards of one’s town. And I too have planted marigolds". You have to accept things as they are, without thought or question.
