<span>William Penn was just as famous as a Quaker and was also the leader of the Pennsylvania Colony. He was also a land investor and a philosopher that promoted the ideals of the religious tolerance. </span>The city of Philadelphia was planned and developed under the direction/instructions of William. He<span> wanted to call the land 'Sylvania' which mean's 'forest land'. The King wanted it to recognize William's  father and so he insisted it to be called 'Pennsylvania'. Pennsylvania is not, so therefore, he named it after William Penn.
