<span>When it comes to the McCandless family, there are three main people to look at. The mother, Billie, is a very kind, caring and compassionate person but she is also very emotional and unintelligent. The father, Walt, is very determined and tough, but he is out of step with what he needs emotionally and he is a cheater. Finally, there is the sister, Carine. She is very kind, caring and sensitive, a lot of fun, and seems to have not visible weaknesses.</span>

I would say the Tai-me symbolized the collective strength of the Kiowa indigenous people in the US and was used in their ceremonial dances and was a doll about 2 feet tall with feathers and mocassins so its theft would be an affront to their beliefs.
