What is the correct definition of suffrage

History

Suffrage means the right to vote.

Throughout history the world suffrage has been used to talk about women’s suffrage, African Americans’ suffrage, and others.

The right to vote, even though nowadays is something guaranteed to almost everyone, has not been this way throughout history.

A lot of minorities had to fight for this right for years, and still there is a lot of inequality around the world.

Answer:

Suffrage is the political and constitutional right to vote for elected public office. In a broad sense, the suffrage covers the assets, which determines who has the right to vote (most common use); and the liability, which refers to who and under what conditions they have the right to be elected.

Historically, numerous collectives have been excluded from the right to vote for many reasons: sometimes because their members were "subjects" of feudal kings and were not considered "free" men; other times because the exclusion of the vote depended on an explicit policy clearly established in the electoral laws. On some occasions, the right to vote excluded groups that did not meet certain conditions (exclusion of illiterates, capitation taxes, etc.); On other occasions a group has been allowed to vote but the electoral system or government institutions were purposely designed to give them less influence than other more favored groups.

It is usually considered that in a democratic country the political legitimacy of a democratic government derives mainly from suffrage.

In what ways was the huge migration into the United States part of a worldwide phenomenon? What were the "push" and "pull" facto
uysha [10]
The migration into the United States of people throughout history is part of the world wide phenomena of migration because individuals entering the U.S. are coming from regions all over the world for a variety of reasons. Most of these immigrants are economic immigrants seeking employment and greater opportunities in an economy like the U.S. which is usually stronger than their home economy which is why they decide to leave. Also other immigrants are fleeing conflict, reuniting with family, seeking education, or other factors. In general migration is representative of a push and pull model because there are factors that push migrants to migrate elsewhere such as war, disease, a weak economy, etc. and there are factors which pull migrants to a place such as a stronger economy, increased security, or better opportunities to live better.

Thanks to who the the Ottoman Empire consolidated power and why ?
tankabanditka [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

The reign of Mehmed II’s immediate successor, Bayezid II (1481–1512), was largely a period of rest. The previous conquests were consolidated, and many of the political, economic, and social problems caused by Mehmed’s internal policies were resolved, leaving a firm foundation for the conquests of the 16th-century sultans. The economic stringencies imposed to finance Mehmed II’s campaigns had led during the final year of his reign to a virtual civil war between the major factions in Istanbul, the devşirme party and the Turkish aristocracy. Bayezid was installed on the throne by the Janissaries because of their military domination of the capital, while his more militant brother Cem fled to Anatolia, where he led a revolt initially supported by the Turkish notables. Bayezid managed to conciliate the latter, however, by exposing to them his essentially pacific plans, which downgraded the devşirme, leaving Cem without major support. Cem then fled into exile in Mamluk Syria in the summer of 1481. He returned the following year with the help of the Mamluks and the last Turkmen ruler of Karaman, but his effort to secure the support of the Turkmen nomads failed because of their attraction to Bayezid’s heterodox religious policies. Cem remained in exile, first at the court of the Crusading Knights of Rhodes and then with the pope in Rome, until his death in 1495. European efforts to use him as the spearhead of a new Crusade to regain Istanbul were unsuccessful.

In the meantime, however, the threat that Cem might lead a foreign attack compelled Bayezid to concentrate on internal consolidation. Most of the property confiscated by his father for military campaigns was restored to its original owners. Equal taxes were established around the empire so that all subjects could fulfill their obligations to the government without the kind of disruption and dissatisfaction that had characterized the previous regime.
