Which statement BEST describes the difference in how Melody and her coach view the base position? A. Melody and the coach both t
Marrrta [24]

Answer:

D. Melody thinks the base position is not important and that it is less valuable than flyer; her coach thinks the base position supports the whole team.

Explanation:

Throughout the story, its obvious to see Melody's frustration that she can't fly in the air and that she feels that the base positions is pointless. To support my answer, here are some quotes from the passage that evidently shows that she wasn't pleased with the results that came to her.

<u>Melody:</u>

"Well, Melody was definitely not laughing with her. Was this some sort of mean joke to keep Melody from getting the attention she deserved as a flyer?"

"Melody had not been in a cheerful spirit since her coach listed the line–up for the stunting routine for the competition."

"Melody could not understand why her coach had dismissed her from the position when she knew that she could handle the pressure of the competition."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is some evidence to support my answer that the coach thinks the base position is quite prominent to the whole team.

<u>The Coach</u>

"I am very proud of you for taking on the new base position for this competition. I hope you realized the importance of being the base because it is the foundation that holds the entire stunt group together. You are definitely a star Melody, so do not ever worry about that. I appreciate you stepping out of the spotlight to let someone else have her moment to shine. You are a true star in my eyes."

"<u>After practice, the cheer coach pulled Melody aside and congratulated her on her efforts in the base team</u>. "I always know I can count on you, Melody. We may have to reassign your stunt position full time. This might be your new calling," <u>she laughed</u>."

I hoped this helped a lot!

The rhetorical device which James Baldwin most clearly uses in this passage is B. Figurative language

<h3>What is Personification?</h3>

This refers to the figure of speech that gives human attributes to inanimate objects.

Hence, we can see that the rhetorical device being used by James Baldwin as he talked about the frozen blood thawing at the hearing of a particular sound is most likely personification because it gives the actions of the blood which is an inanimate object, human qualities.

Ghost: I could a tale unfold whose lightest word
deff fn [24]

Answer:

This is from William Shakespeare's play Hamlet. The Ghost speaking is the ghost of prince Hamlet's father. I don't know what the question you got was but, in this section his ghost dad is telling Hamlet his story is sooo terrifying that it would make his eyes pop out of his head, "harrow" or scare/haunt him to his soul and make his hair stand up (like when you get goosebumps.) And the story is that Hamlet's Uncle Claudius killed Hamlet's father  because Uncle Claudius wanted to be the King. AND then he married Hamlet's mom Gertrude too. AND she was in on it the whole time!

Identify the italicized word as gerund or participle
Luda [366]
I think that the italicized word is "trained" as it's a participle and there is no other participle or gerund! A participle is a verb form that can be used to modify a noun.
