3(u+1)+4u+1

Multiply the bracket by 3

(3)(u)=3u, (3)(1)=3

3u+3+4u+1

3u+4u+3+1 ( combine like terms)

=7u+4

Answer: 7u+4

How do I Solve 4y + 3 = 2y + 14 ???
Aloiza [94]
4y+3=2y+14
subtract 2y from both sides to get the y figures on the same side.
2y+3=14
Then subract 3 from both sides to get the number values on the other side.
2y=11
Divide by 2 to get y alone.
y=\frac{11}{2}
y= 5.5

A ball is thrown straight up with a speed of 12 meters per second near the surface of Earth. What is the maximum height reached
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer:

maximum height =7.347m

Step-by-step explanation:

maximum height = (U²sin²θ)/2g

where θ = 90° as the ball is thrown straight up.

sin90°=1 , so our formula reduces to;

H= U²/2g

U=12m/s  , g=9.8m/s²

H= 12²/(2*9.8)

H=7.347m

Look at the equation 4x - 8.4 = 2x + 5. The terms 4x and 2x are like terms
xz_007 [3.2K]

In form ax + b = c: 2x - 8.4 = 5

Solution to equation: x = 6.7

Step-by-step explanation:

4x - 8.4 = 2x + 5

2x - 8.4 = 5

2x = 13.4

x = 6.7

Find the center, vertices, and foci of the ellipse with equation x squared divided by 16 plus y squared divided by 25 = 1.
777dan777 [17]
\bf \cfrac{(x-{{ h}})^2}{{{ b}}^2}+\cfrac{(y-{{ k}})^2}{{{ a}}^2}=1
\qquad
\begin{array}{llll}
center\ ({{ h}},{{ k}})\\\\
vertices\ ({{ h}}, {{ k}}\pm a)\\\\
foci\ (h\ ,\ k\pm \sqrt{a^2-b^2})
\end{array} \\\\
-----------------------------\\\\
\cfrac{x^2}{16}+\cfrac{y^2}{25}=1\implies \cfrac{(x-0)^2}{4^2}+\cfrac{(y-0)^2}{5^2}=1

in an ellipse, the "a" component, is always the bigger denominator, in this case the 5, which is under the "y", meaning the "y-axis" is the major axis, and thus the foci are c=\sqrt{a^2-b^2} distance from "k" coordinate
